Ark Belgrade

This painting is a metaphor for a journey through time, space and the culture of Belgrade, a symbiosis of the past, present and future. 

The sailing ship symbolizes Belgrade, an eternal nomad between the old and the new, survival despite the fractures. The pipes in its belly speak of the industrial past of the city, while the fishing net, as a subtle connection to the river, represents the inexhaustible search for identity and spiritual god.

These figures are not placed in the belly of the ark by chance. They symbolize man's relationship with nature and the world - the Vinča figures as representatives of harmony with the earth and the cosmos, while the shapes of Lepenski Vir bring elements of the unity of rivers, life and cycles. These are the foundations that support the city above, as a bridge between the past and the future.
