Awake silence

These paintings represent a meditation on time and transformation. At first glance, we see only objects - a barrel, grapes, a bottle, and a glass – but each of them is a symbol of a stage of existence.

The grapes on the barrel represent raw nature, the immediate beauty that is subject to decay. On the other hand, the wine in the bottle and glass is the result of suffering and metamorphosis. For wine to be created, the grapes must be crushed; to become noble, it must spend time in the darkness of the barrel. This is a powerful metaphor for the human experience: often, pain and isolation (the darkness of the barrel) are necessary processes for achieving inner maturity and depth.

The composition is distinctly vertical. From the heavy, wooden barrel firmly bound to the earth, through the bottle reaching upward, to the glass in which the wine is offered to the light. This depicts man's path from the material (physical) to the spiritual. The wine here is not just a drink, but a symbol of consciousness that has been "drawn out" from raw matter.

Although there are no people in the paintings, the human presence is very tangible. The glass is poured and waiting. This creates a feeling of "awake silence". Philosophically, the painting invites us to contemplate the concept of Kairos - that right, fateful moment in time. Everything is ready for an encounter, for conversation, or for solitary reflection.

The earthy, brown tones of the background blend with the objects, suggesting that everything ultimately tends to return to dust. Yet, the light reflecting on the glass of the bottle and the glass defies that darkness. It is that "brilliance in transience" - proof that, although everything is temporary, the beauty of the moment possesses its own eternity.
