Petar Hranuelli

Was born in Supetar (December 27, 1975), and lived in Postire on the island of Brač until 1994. He has exhibited at 66 solo and 123 group exhibitions in the country and abroad since 1994. He won several awards and recognitions, among which we can highlight: Redemption award for The Venus in honey, City Office for Agriculture and Forestry, Zagreb (2007), 1st prize of the jury for XXVI and XXIX small format exhibition, Šabac (2017, 2020). Also the 1st prize for sculpture, IV International Biennale of Acts "Marko Krstov Gregorić”, Petrovac, Montenegro (2018), then commendation for sculpture at the 16th International Biennale of Miniature Art, Gornji Milanovac (2022), and 2nd prize for sculpture at 56 Herceg Novi winter salon, Herceg Novi, Montenegro (2023). 

The prominent art critics who wrote about his artistic works are: Zvonko Maković, Slavko Timotijević, Iva Körbler, Tonko Maroević, Draženka Jalšić Ernečić, Nikola Albaneže, Olivera Vukotić, Stanko Špoljarić, Davorin Vujičić, Romana Tekić, Sonja Petrović Jagić, Vesna Bunčić, Lucija Đurašković, etc. Many of his sculptures are in the permanent exhibitions of museums, galleries, private collections here and abroad (Croatia, Slovenia, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Austria, Serbia, Turkey, England, Montenegro, Spain, California, Chile, Switzerland, etc.) 

Hranuelli's opus with the choice of materials is connected to his to his home island of Brač. Sculptures made of stone in abstract forms and the figurative ones, most often depict women (Venus) and male figures, in a dialogue with tradition from prehistory through classical antiquity to modern times. Vitality and exuberance carved in stone, sometimes in other materials such as glass, whether it is a sculpture of a smaller format or a bigger format for public places are the characteristics of Hranuelli's creativity. He has been a member of HDLU since 2006. He lives and creates in Zagreb.
