Product Information

¶ In every position, it gives an impression that the angel's eyes are looking back at the viewer.

It has more of an effective apperance when viewed in person.
Without a frame, because it is painted from the sides, too, highlighting the 3D effect, as shown.

¶ White Angel (Serbian: Beli anđeo) is a detail of one of the best known frescoes in Serbian culture in the Mileševa monastery, dated c. 1235 in Serbia during the reign of King Stephen Vladislav I of Serbia. Considered one of the most beautiful works of Serbian and European art from the High Middle Ages, this fresco is considered to be one of the great achievements in European painting.

¶ Interesting fact: The first satellite transmission of a video signal in 1962 between Europe and North America contained the image of the White Angel from Mileseva among the first frames that represented the greeting of Europeans to Americans. Sometime later, the same signal was sent into space towards possible extraterrestrial life forms. The white angel was chosen for this occasion as well because it has become recognized around the world as a symbol of peace
