Product Information
Đorđe Mihailović, the guardian of the Serbian military cemetery at Zejtinlik, was dedicated to preserving the memory of fallen Serbian soldiers from World War I. His life’s mission was to care for this sacred place, where soldiers who fell in the battles on the Salonika front are buried.
Zejtinlik symbolizes Serbian bravery and suffering, and as its guardian, Đorđe daily shared stories of heroism and sacrifice with visitors, keeping the memories of those who gave their lives alive. He was especially devoted to preserving the graves and memories of the soldiers who perished in the Blue Tomb – the sea around the island of Corfu, where many wounded and exhausted soldiers found their final rest.
Đorđe Mihailović was and remains a symbol of perseverance and dedication, maintaining the connection between the past and the present, and helping new generations understand and respect the sacrifice their ancestors made for freedom.
