Sonja Barać
Biography
My name is Sonja Barać.
I was born in 1993 and currently live in Novi Sad, but I’ve had the opportunity to travel and experience different lifestyles and cultures, which are significant aspects of my art.
I studied Serbian Literature and Language in my hometown, but during my fourth year of studies, I left university to pursue humanitarian work in search of meaning. During those years of working with young people and refugees, I met individuals who had a profound influence on my creativity today, primarily through their wisdom, spiritual practices, and the impactful projects and humanitarian initiatives I was part of.
In 2017, a decade after I last picked up a brush and stood in front of an easel, I started painting again. I initially focused on watercolor mandalas and later transitioned to canvas. Mandalas inspired me to reconnect with art and understand its healing potential. I went on to lead a total of eight open workshops, teaching participants how to paint their first mandala.
From 2017 to today, I’ve explored digital art, design, watercolor, mixed techniques, and abstract painting. Alongside painting, I am also passionate about photography and writing poetry.
