As the artist who created this work, I want to convey the inspiration and deep symbolism behind the painting "Goldfish." At first glance, we see a goldfish swimming toward the water's surface, surrounded by shimmering golden scales that reflect light in a way that emphasizes its elegance and strength. In the background, a fishing net stretches out as a silent threat, symbolizing the dangers and challenges we face in life.

Goldfish as Symbolism

The goldfish is not just an ordinary aquarium pet; it carries deeply rooted symbolism in many cultures. It is often associated with luck, prosperity, and the fulfillment of wishes. In this work, the goldfish symbolizes hope and freedom. Despite the dangers surrounding it, it swims toward the surface, toward light and freedom. The golden scales, carefully glued onto the canvas, give the fish a three-dimensional appearance and add a sense of luxury and value.

The Fishing Net: Challenges and Traps

The fishing net in the background is delicately woven onto the canvas, creating a contrast between the fish's freedom and the trap that lurks. The nets are glued directly onto the canvas, adding texture and depth to the work. They represent obstacles, traps, and challenges we encounter on the path to our goals. I used a combination of acrylic paints, golden scales, and real fishing nets to create this work. The nets are glued onto the canvas and additionally painted to create an illusion of depth and reality.

Message of the Work

Through this painting, I want to encourage the viewer to reflect on their own struggles and dreams. Like the goldfish, we all swim through life with our desires and hopes, facing various challenges. The fishing net is a reminder of these obstacles, but also of our ability to avoid them and continue toward our goals. Freedom, courage, and hope are the key messages I wish to convey through this work.
